The Issues Management (IM) Analyst is responsible for ensuring timely remediation of risk events and timely closure of identified issues with negative impacts to customers and Cenlar clients. The issues management process is a complicated work flow with many moving parts including intake, root case analysis, Management Action Plans (MAPS), and controls, and full remediation of the issue itself. This position ensures operations is providing points of contact, updates to remediation steps, stop gap measures and documenting compensating controls to minimize any potential negative impact to customers. The Analyst will be responsible for identifying issues, finding appropriate solutions, monitoring and updating Cenlar's GRC system (Process Unity).

Responsibilities:

  • Drives process development for successful issues management resolution, ensuring adherence, by the business, and timely closure of identified issues that may have impact to customers and Cenlar clients.
  • Finds resolutions for more complex issues requiring extensive research
  • May direct the workflow of other Analysts
  • Monitors and updates Cenlar's GRC system to ensure valid, reliable, and timely updates to data
  • Assists IM management and the business in the continuous monitoring of new issues to determine underlying control deficiencies/breakdowns
  • Ensures proactive identification of materialized issues, incidents, and KRI performance
  • Understands the business impacts of new issues to effectively rate their severity and engage with various internal business partners in both the 1st and 2nd lines of defense
  • Evaluates new issues to determine business response based on business risk appetite and Cenlar Issue Management guidelines
  • Works with IM leadership to effectively prioritize issues that may be past due, high risk, and Evaluates low severity issues to determine appropriateness of Fast Track eligibility
  • Involved in the creation of remediation Management Action Plans (MAP) and MAP activities to address root cause of open issues or linkage to pre-existing MAPs when appropriate
  • Prepares and processes Risk Acceptance requests
  • Drives Issue Management (IM) through timely completion within Issues Management program KRI SLAs
  • Performs on-going monitoring of MAP progress towards remediation target date and MAP activity milestones. Provides progress updates to business management and status updates to Issues Management using ProcessUnity
  • Proactively identifies potential barriers to meeting target dates
  • Prepares and submits MAP extension requests, when appropriate
  • Ensures closed issues successfully passing AVT Validations and Sustainability. Demonstrates improved controls as a result of closed issues
  • Updates Cenlar's risk system of record (ProcessUnity)
  • Identifies and escalates emerging risks
  • Liaises with Cenlar's Policies and Procedures (P&P) team to ensure risks and controls are appropriately reflected within procedures
  • Coordinates management responses into MAPs for submission to auditors and examiners
  • Liaises with testing partners (QA, QC, Compliance) to analyze root cause of testing results and suggest remediation activity
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, include but not limited to compliance and operational risk. Demonstrate consideration for Cenlar's reputation as well as our clients, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of quality assurance/control, mortgage banking, auditing or other relevant experience
  • Knowledge of sound risk management practices for mortgage servicing functions and demonstrated understanding of risk management and internal control principles
  • Experience reviewing processes, data or documents with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience interpreting rules and guidelines for appropriate decision-making
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to exercise critical thinking skills
  • Excellent problem resolution, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of software tools required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
