Position Summary::

The Welding Instructor is a part-time Continuing Education faculty member responsible for conducting instruction at the Plumbers & Pipefitters Training Center in Concord. The instructor is responsible for maintaining instructional quality and effectiveness through constant and timely revision of course elements and syllabi to meet welding industry workforce demands. They are expected to stay current in th subject matter through professional development. The instructor will plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning; employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students, including strategies to meet diverse students' needs. The instructor is responsible for assisting in the recruitment and retention of apprentices registered with the NC Department of Labor. The instructor is also responsible for other duties as assigned by the Director of Customized Training of RCCC

Faculty Required Education/Experience Skills::

Journeyman status for 5 or more years.

Applicants are required to submit documented proof of Journeyman status for 5 or more years and supporting welding certifications.

Desired Education/Experience/Skills::

• Current or previous affiliation and instruction with the Plumbers & Pipefitters Training Center in Concord.
• Knowledge of and experience in the operation of Hamden Trainers (or related equipment).

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities::

• Must be proficient in Mig, Stick, Tig and oxygen/acetylene welding.
• Proficient in layout of piping, laterals, etc., reading of blueprint/piping schematic plans, pipe preparation and installation.
