Job Description

Veolia Water Technologies, Inc. Dayton is currently seeking a Wastewater Operator to work in the Fairmont West Virginia area.

The Wastewater Operator is responsible for controlling the treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for permitted industrial uses. You will be operating a Wastewater treatment facility that consists of precipitation, clarification, filtration, and Ion reduction. You will also be working with sludge removal equipment that requires physical abilities.

The facility operates on a 24/7/365 day schedule with 12 hr shifts. The shift schedule is 7days on and 7 days off shift and the start/stop time of 7a/p-7p/a. Overtime is possible covering vacations as well as built into the schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate flow of water into the treatment plant.
  • Collect and test water samples to determine concentration levels and impurities.
  • Perform all scheduled maintenance, service, and new installations of water treatment equipment.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping of client data such as residual content of chemicals, conductivity, pH, and quantity
  • Comply with all client safety parameters.
  • May be responsible for compiling data for the Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Coordinate with other operators throughout the customer plant in order to maintain the plants wastewater treatment equipment.
  • Compile data for the monthly operating report to in-house management and client management.
  • Troubleshoot problems within clients wastewater treatment equipment and facilitate and/or coordinate repairs as necessary.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be proficient with MS Office / Google
  • 5 years of related work experience (college courses count) preferred
  • Wastewater Certification preferred
  • Be able to work nights and weekends
  • Be able to work 12 hour shifts and work 7 days in a row.
  • Normal shift schedule consists of 7 days on and 7 days off.
  • High level of accountability
