Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Grow and provide organizational leadership to a world class technical team skilled in the development of high-performance surgical imaging platforms and algorithms
  • Work with other business unit leaders for a seamless integration of new technologies into outstanding products
  • Lead selection of and manage relationships with key external technology partners
  • Promote a culture of high performance, engaged talent and continuous improvement

Project prioritization / Innovation

  • Provide overall vision, project prioritization and strategy based on corporate alignment
  • Interpret clinical needs and negotiate design tradeoffs to guide roadmaps and product concepts for imaging system development
  • Develop and oversee the development of advanced prototypes to support front end concept development, testing and evaluation

Collaboration

  • New technology identification and evaluation
  • Lead the management of external collaborations

Operations

  • Systematically develop intellectual property coverage in relevant fields
  • Highly effective in managing budgets, resources and risk while executing to plan
  • Develop and drive the innovation strategy including technology roadmaps, assigning/identifying resources, and allocating budgetary funds for APD Imaging

Skills required

Education

  • Advanced degree in engineering or related discipline preferred
  • MBA and/or related business experience in taking complex products to market
  • Strong scientific understanding of imaging physics and human perception & interaction
  • Extensive knowledge of imaging technologies, data processing and algorithms

Personality

  • Visionary, creative, driven, and results-oriented leader with honed interpersonal skills and the highest level of integrity
  • Ability to effectively network and interface with different business units and at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational as well as verbal and written communication skills

Experience

  • Minimum 15+ years of leadership experience in a change-intensive cross-functional work environment
  • Experience with medical imaging
  • Proven record in product development in a regulated environment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop business plans highlighting potential of product offering while identifying areas of risk
  • Expert in leading and interacting with high-performing multi-disciplinary engineering and product development organizations
  • Experience in mapping out the external landscape of related technologies to ensure a balanced and healthy portfolio
  • Adept at identifying new enabling technologies and algorithmic techniques, technology risk reduction, managing design evolution and iterative prototyping, and negotiating complex design tradeoffs across multiple engineering disciplines
