Job Description
The Head of BD for Rx will be a key member of the Rx GBU leadership team. S/he will be responsible for the company's efforts to define and implement a successful business development strategy that is aligned with the broader corporate objectives to expand Galderma's global leadership position in Rx dermatology. S/he will be leading all M&A, alliance and in-licensing initiatives to broaden and strengthen the company's portfolio of prescription products in order to increase the company's geographic reach into existing and emerging markets and pursuing creative and progressive strategies to mitigate R&D and commercialization risk.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide overall global business development strategy and direction for the Rx GBU in close partnership with the Head of Global R&D and the Head of the Rx GBU.
  • Oversee all major global business development transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, licensing, joint ventures and other global deal structures to access development stage and commercial assets, product lines and companies in the developed world and in emerging markets. This will require leadership of all facets of the due diligence process for each transaction.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential deals by size, business opportunity, and return on investment.
  • Work actively with Global R&D to align the strategy with the company's commercial objectives.
  • Develop and execute upon strategy and tactics to target potential partners and licensing opportunities within prioritized markets.
  • Negotiate and provide active input on all major terms for agreements being drafted and provide leadership and direction in finalizing contract negotiations successfully.
  • Travel required as needed.


Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance/Accounting/Business Administration and/or other related fields; MBA a plus
  • Strong understanding of prescription drug and product development and/or commercialization, Finance and/or Valuation and key concepts / methodologies such as NPV, IRR, DCF, etc.
  • Strong MS Office knowledge - PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience in Pharma Global Business Development, with a proven ability to identify, lead, evaluate and close complex negotiations and collaborations in Rx; His/her experiences to date must include product knowledge and deal structures across geographic boundaries, commercial and development stage assets and all types of transactions (including in/out licensing, product commercialization accords, and mergers and acquisitions). The successful candidate must be financially savvy and be able to integrate individual transactions into the greater strategic objectives of Galderma. S/He will have proven experience developing an extensive global network and fostering relationships with key individuals within and outside of Galderma.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; high EQ - culturally sensitive, self-motivated and used to working in a dynamic and fast-paced matrixed environment, Analytical and strategic thinking skills to develop commercial models and novel deal structures.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work effectively both independently as well as in collaborative cross functional group settings Ability to evaluate products, product lines and companies and articulate their value, best utilization, competitive differentiation and potential fit with the existing portfolio.
