Job Title:VMC Associate Director, Finance and Business OperationsDepartment:Veterinary Medical Center | Operations

The Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is seeking a financial leader. The VMC is a $45M, six-hospital system providing primary, secondary, and tertiary care to dogs, cats, farm animals, and horses. The Associate Director of Financial and Business Operations directs and coordinates all financial, accounting, and supply chain operations of the VMC. This individual oversees a team of three accountants, a billing manager, four billing specialists, a supply chain manager and three supply chain staff members. The Associate Director serves on the VMC leadership team and participates in College and VMC committees, as appropriate.

The financial and accounting operations include creation and management of operating and capital budgets; development of pricing structure; financial forecasting and analysis; preparation and distribution of monthly financial reports; development of business plans and financial forecasting for new projects and strategic initiatives; internal audit coordination; and development and management of financial policies, protocols, and internal controls.

This position is responsible for accounts receivable management including customer billing, payment processing, and the aging and write-off of receivables. Ensuring that customer inquiries are managed in a timely and professional manner is an important aspect of this position.

This position leads the capital purchase process in partnership with University Purchasing, non-capital purchases and service contract negotiations. The oversight of the supply chain team includes ensuring sound purchasing and inventory management processes; appropriate pricing structures that respond to market fluctuation; and partnering with university accounts payable to ensure bills are paid in a timely fashion so that medical supply receipt is not impacted. The individual ensures physical assets are accounted for and disposed of properly when appropriate.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or similar field or equivalent combination or education and experience
  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member
  • Solution oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Ambitious and self-motivated
  • Ability to work under pressure handling multiple projects/issues simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or CPA
  • Supervisory experience in a healthcare setting
  • Contractual knowledge

Hiring Range - $107,000 - 143,000
