We're growing rapidly and are searching for a Vice President, Tax & Treasury to join our innovative team. When you join DraftKings, you will focus not only on documenting and refining our historical tax positions, you will also collaborate with every business area to improve processes and execute objectives efficiently while minimizing operational strain on the business.

This new team member will be responsible for all tax and treasury matters, will lead strategic tax planning initiatives, and will manage relationships with outside tax professionals.

This role will be hands-on, interacting and collaborating with Accounting, FP&A and outside service providers to ensure the accurate and timely execution of tax and treasury functions.

What you'll do as a Vice President, Tax & Treasury:

  • File all tax returns on-time and accurately (e.g., federal income, state income, property, federal excise)
  • Manage any ongoing audits (i.e., federal, state)
  • Work collaboratively with Chief Accounting Officer for SEC tax reporting (e.g., ASC740, FIN48) in addition to drafting and maintaining policies and procedures and relevant controls
  • Oversee Player tax reporting which is unique to DraftKings business model (e.g., W-2Gs, 1099s) and implement more scalable solutions as player count skyrockets
  • Develop and implement State Tax as COGS optimization ideas through partnership with Government Affairs and direct coordination with State Tax Authorities
  • Optimize long-term cash tax obligations through (a) international tax optimization and (b) NOL management
  • Assist with Tax diligence for selective potential M&A opportunities
  • Manage >$2B of cash including ongoing cash forecasting in conjunction with VP of FP&A and network of corporate bankers; stay abreast of dynamic Crypto opportunities for DraftKings
  • Work with 3rd party Tax advisory firm to develop multi-year plan for Tax Function including decisions around in-house vs. 3rd party capabilities

What you'll bring:
  • Ideally, you have at least 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferably, you have 5 years of experience in public accounting, especially with the Big Four.
  • You have experience working in gaming, e-commerce, or a similar data rich tech environment.
  • Excellent executive-level communication skills - pithy, to the point, and impactful in style.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities as evidenced by leading and growing high performance teams
  • CPA is mandatory; MST or JD is highly preferred.
