Position Summary...

What you'll do...

What you'll do.......We're looking for an energetic, collaborative UX Writing Manager to join our Creative Communications team. In this role, you'll manage a team of 5+ UX writers who work on in-app copy for various internal and external Walmart products. You'll oversee the team's day-to-day tasks, helping the writers prioritize where to focus and unblocking them if any obstacles get in their way. You'll also empower and mentor your team while identifying growth opportunities for them to develop their skills and build their careers

This role requires enthusiasm for creating delightful user experiences, a desire to dig deep and assess processes, and the ability to write to users in a casual, helpful way. You'll work alongside UX designers, product managers, and operations teams in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment. This position is remote and will report to the Head of Copy & Design for the Walmart U.S. Omni Tech organization.

  • Manage a team of UX writers, overseeing their day-to-day tasks

  • Help the writers prioritize where to focus and provide guidance on UX writing

  • Build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Design, Research, Engineering, Operations, and Legal

  • Identify users' needs and gaps in existing content 

  • Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images, and tone) 

  • Participate in team meetings to estimate content requirements and deadlines, set up SME interviews, work within the team calendar to anticipate upcoming requests, and deliver content within the needed timelines 

  • Participate in planning meetings, estimate UX content requirements, and provide status updates on progress 

  • Edit text for technical clarity, accuracy, grammar, consistent terminology, and style 

  • Lead the creation of product-specific UX writing guidelines aligned with our brand guidelines

  • Extract complex concepts and quickly turn around content flows, clear copy, and information architecture

  • Conduct competitive analysis, research, and/or usability testing

  • Effective communication with engineers, designers, developers, researchers, and product managers 

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and industry trends 

  • Highly detail-oriented and organized 

  • Effective time management skills 

  • Understands basic usability principles 

  • A passion for helping the end user succeed 

  • Obsession for driving a best-in-class experience for users 

  • Understands how content can make or break the user experience 

  • Ability to organize information in a way that provides a positive user experience 

  • Demonstrates excellence collaborating with cross-functional teams across a global organization 

  • Ability to prioritize and report on multiple tasks for several projects, stakeholders, and team members 

  • Understanding of software development processes, concepts, and terms  

Education Requirements

  • BA in English, Technical Writing, Creative Writing, or a relevant area

  • 5+ years of UX writing experience

  • Experience managing UX writers and developing, using, and maintaining a UX style guide

  • Experience using Figma, Zeplin, and Sketch

  • Portfolio of UX-focused writing samples and style guidelines
