The Food and Nutrition Services Department is looking for a Unit Host Program Cook to join their team in Boise, ID! Unit Host Cooks must possess a high level of Nutrition Therapy competency and be able to achieve the highest-level outcomes with minimal supervision. They perform a variety of routine tasks including preparing hot food items for patients and serving portions of hot food on patient tray assembly lines for delivery.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience (not required):

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  
• Knowledge and skills to perform the required cooking methods (e.g., baking, broiling, roasting, steaming, frying) equivalent to two years of experience of institutional cooking.
  
• Four years of experience in restaurant/institutional cooking preferred.
  

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

• Six months of hospital cooking required and must be able to pass department sponsored Diet Therapy test.
  
• Serv-Safe or comparably certified in HACCP processes within 90 days of hire.
  

Essential Functions:

• Meets Health System's Guiding Behaviors and Caring Standards including interpersonal communication and professional conduct expectations.
  
• Prepares and stores food for patients and visitors. according to accepted HACCP and UNICODE standards.
  
• Performs cleaning procedures of food service equipment and work areas.
  
• Ability to work as part of a team in a high-volume kitchen
  
• Ability to read, follow and convert recipes.
  
• Ability to operate any equipment used in food preparation.
  
• Supervises production staff in the absence of the Chef.
  
• Must be able to disassemble and reassemble all kitchen equipment to be cleaned.
  
• Competency in basic literacy skills including reading, oral and written communication and basic math skills required.
