The Department of Pediatrics has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Therapist. The Therapist will function as a Mental Health Consultant that will be providing consultation services to early learning programs, classrooms, and children using the IECMHC model. Moreover, the Therapist diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders, whether cognitive, affective, or behavioral, within the context of marriage and family systems. Apply psychotherapeutic and family systems theories and techniques in the delivery of services to individuals, couples, and families for the purpose of treating such diagnosed nervous and mental disorders.

  • Enroll participants and maintain a caseload of 16 participants (e.g., 4 directors, 8 teachers, and 4 children).
  • Perform clinical assessments and collect necessary data to determine program eligibility.
  • Provide weekly consultations to participants based on action plan detailing areas of need.
  • Continuously link participants to community resources for any additional supports or services.
  • Attend individual and group supervision as needed.
  • Attend trainings for continued professional development as needed.
  • Interviews, evaluates, and assesses the needs of patients, and develops treatment plans.
  • Works in conjunction with multidisciplinary service teams to ensure implementation of coordinated psychosocial serves as it relates to program participants' needs.
  • Prepares progress notes, reports, and correspondence.
  • Maintains case records confidential. Conducts ongoing individual, groups, and family counseling sessions with patients.
  • Completes psychosocial evaluations, diagnoses psychological disorders, prepares comprehensive clinical summaries, and makes treatment recommendations.
  • Interprets psychological or psychiatric case information from patients interviewed and from medical or psychiatric sources.
  • Assists with the recordation of data and statistics.
  • Serves as program liaison to collaborating service providers, the courts, and treatment centers.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required.
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or any related Counseling field is strongly preferred along with being license eligible.
  • Certification in relevant specialty or field
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
