The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences is seeking a temporary, part-time (25 hours/week) Research Assistant to provide research support on an NIMH pilot grant through the UM Center for Latino Health Disparities. This position will report to Dr. Roger McIntosh and will examine Psychoneuroimmunological outcomes in Hispanic/Latina women living with HIV.

As detailed below, the responsibilities of the Research Assistant supports the primary investigators by providing research and experimentation support while following established protocols. Additionally, the Research Assistant provides clerical support to ensure the smooth operations of the research lab.

Successful applicants have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be highly organized, pay attention to details, be motivated, and work independently as well as with others in a research environment. Candidates with knowledge and understanding of research methodology and concepts of cultural competency will be preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required


Position Responsibilities:
  • Prepares correspondence and answers phones.
  • Formulates and maintains bibliographies and completes applications and forms.
  • Reviews and edits various materials for publication, and prepares publication schedules.
  • Maintains appropriate logs, records, and study notebooks.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Identify, recruit, and retain eligible cancer patients and their family members (research participants).
  • Manage and report enrollment and retention of study participants.
  • Assist the PI in revising study materials, if necessary. Assist with IRB process and ensure that the highest ethical standards are followed in research activities.
  • Assist in data collection from eligible participants.
