This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides technical support. Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions.
Unit Position SummaryLab monitors support medical students who need to study anatomy. Duties include opening the lab, remaining visible to individuals during 'Open Lab' hours, closing the lab and enforcing all the lab guidelines and rules. This is mainly a summer position (June-August) with evenings (4 pm-8 pm), weekends (Noon-5 pm) and some full day (10 am-4 pm) shifts.
Desired QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent, reliable, self starter with strong verbal communication skills.

Summary of Health RisksWhile in lab, monitors experience moderately disagreeable working conditions involving lab temperature maintained at 62 degrees, exposure to human remains and chemical fumes. Successful candidates will be required to complete MSU Chemical Hygiene and Laboratory Safety (with Hazardous Waste Initial) online training module upon hire and annually to maintain employment in this role.
