Summary

Performance Chemicals is in the process of launching Integrated Business Management (IBM) as part of its Transformation initiative. As part of the launch strategy, IBM will be implemented on a pilot scale in the US and Canada. Once proficiency has been demonstrated, a global launch will follow beginning with Global Silicas and followed by EMEA Silicates.

This position will play a critical role in the US/CAN pilot as it evolves to a functioning management system for the Americas. Connectivity and support for LATAM local planning is envisioned in the scope as well.

General Job Description

The Tactical Planning role is at the heart of supply chain acting as the Control Tower for all activities within the supply chain organization for the tactical planning horizon. In addition, the Tactical Planner is the liaison for Sales and Customer Service to the manufacturing operations to resolve customer service issues.

The Tactical Planner is mainly responsible taking the demand signal, netting against on-hand inventory, incorporating planned plant constraints and creating the Master Production Schedule (MPS) that respects network constraints. In performing this role, the Tactical Planner is responsible for managing inventory level(s) to business targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create the Rough Cut Capacity Plan (RCCP) to identify capacity constraints (or excess capacity) in the supply chain; lead a cross functional team to develop proposals for mitigation of capacity issues within the tactical planning horizon
  • Create a Master Production Schedule by converting the consensus demand plan into supply plan for all products/stocking locations (MPS)
  • Create and/or change planned orders derived from the MPS to signal manufacturing as to the production requirements
  • Maintain target inventory levels at warehouse(s) and plant locations to meet customer service levels
  • On a twice daily basis, review system alerts and develop actions plans with key stakeholders to remediate
  • On a monthly basis, review Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), understand the root cause(s) of the variances and develop action plans in collaboration with key stakeholders to improve performance
  • On a monthly basis, prepare necessary charts/ graphs for the Supply Planning Meeting as part of the IBM cadence; attend such meeting and execute on action items assigned from this meeting
  • On a monthly basis, review OEE against the MPS, understand the variances, developing action plans in collaboration with key stakeholders and improve performance.
  • Participate on the team that will launch the planning software; develop a skill set to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Actively participate in developing/maintaining Business Policies for the supply side of S&OE (Sales and Operating Execution)
  • On a monthly basis, liaise with Transportation / Warehousing functions to assure adequate capacity
  • Monitor system generated purchase requisitions for direct materials and respond as necessary to supplier issues

Monitor and maintain key master data in both the system of record and in the enterprise planning tool.


Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of Supply Chain planning experience, preferably in inventory management
  • Proven ability to conduct complex, quantitative and statistical analyses complimented with qualitative inputs from multiple sources to draw conclusions, make recommendations
  • A track record of successfully delivering to business objectives against schedule and quality expectations
  • Strong problem solving, negotiation and influencing skills ability to make critical decisions based on the best information at hand and take a leadership role in building consensus among several parties to resolve problems
  • Previous experience with a ERP and planning systems
  • Position requires a high level proficiency with MS Excel, reporting software and competency in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Familiar with implementing key performance metrics as a basis for process improvement
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous priorities
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills
  • Strong sense of urgency, ability to work with minimal direction
  • Fluency in English

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related degree
  • APICS Certification preferred but not required
