Job Description:
The Network\Cloud engineer will implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAN optimizers, firewalls, routers, and switches. Primary duties will include maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems, performing disaster recovery operations, protecting data, software, and hardware from attacks, and replacing faulty network hardware components when necessary. The Network\Cloud engineer will also work closely with the users of the network to identify potential issues and fix existing problems. The Network Cloud engineer operates on-prem networks and cloud networks and demonstrates by implementing changes in both environments.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operations and Maintenance Tier I-III Support for IT Infrastructure across multiple networks and security domains
  • Security/Information Assurance response to potential Vulnerabilities related to IAVAs and OPDIRs
  • Brief leadership on the health of systems, individual and/or enterprise
  • Update/Create documentation as needed (user guides, admin guides, knowledge base articles, FAQs, quick reference guides)
  • Set-up, configuration, and support of internal and external networks
  • Identifying and analyzing systems requirements
  • Developing and maintaining system applications, security, and maintaining network configurations
  • Create and implement router and switch configurations
  • Troubleshooting network performance issues
  • Providing user support and guidance
  • Setting up IP schemas for multi-tenant environments
  • Configuring physical and virtual switching, routing, and firewall protocols, ports, and services
  • Developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans
  • Manage network communications testing, installation, and support, including LAN/MAN/WAN system
  • Create and implement router and switch configurations
  • Provide recommendations to enhance and improve network performance
  • Interface with vendors to address problem escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance
  • Provide quality assurance review and evaluation of new and existing networking products
  • Plans and coordinates major computer network initiatives
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends new computer network equipment and technologies
  • Utilizes monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to trouble shoot and isolate problems, gauge network performance, and trace data and protocol activity
  • Devises solutions to complex operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment
  • Develops and executes contingency plans for network software and hardware failures including isolated and major outages
Required Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Meet DoD 8570 requirements, must have and maintain, at a minimum, active Security + CE and associate level or higher Network certification
  • Must patch and implement security controls in response to IAVAs and OPDIRs on respective network systems
  • Must have Cloud experience - AWS Preferred
  • Strong TCP/IP foundation
  • BGP, QoS, and Multicast
  • SNMPv3 and network monitoring software
  • Working knowledge of network standards/protocols/security, hardware, and application virtualization
  • Working knowledge of local area and wide area networking principles and concepts including bandwidth management
  • Juniper Operating System (JUNOS) and/or CISCO IOS
  • Working knowledge of the Windows and/or Linux Operating systems to include Server and Workstation environments
  • Respond to, incidents, change requests, and service requests making sure to follow up with the customer to ensure completion
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Hands-on experience with network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, firewalls, servers, transmission media, and related hardware
  • Hands-on experience with network systems design, development, testing, installation, operations, management, and maintenance concepts and methods
  • WAN technologies, protocols, and optimizers
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and standard DoD and Marine Corps concepts, practices, and procedures. Familiarity with Navy/Marine Corps interoperability requirements is preferred
  • Familiarity with Load Balancers (hardware and software)
  • Network Security Appliances to include Type1 encryption devices
  • Video Teleconference (VTC), Desktop VTC, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) integration and management
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server, Linux OS, Networks, MS Exchange, MS Lync, MS SQL Server, SCCM, SCOM, Service Manager, Networked Printers/Services, Distributed File Services, Data Protection Manager, MS SharePoint, PowerShell, JavaScript
  • Working knowledge of DoD STIGs related to the applicable technologies and how to implement, mitigate, and write POAM statements
