As we move towards our ZERO ZERO ZERO vision for the future, we are looking to add hardworking, results-oriented individuals to our Validation team as a System Validation Engineer!

The System Validation Engineer position within Global Powertrain and Electrification Validation is integral to our team's success of executing system level validation on time, with quality. The Engineer will be engaged in programs throughout the development lifecycle. The hands-on skills learned in this role will be used for the rest of your career regardless of your career path.

Engineers in this role may have the opportunity to work in one of the following areas:

  • Transmission
  • Electric Drive Unit
  • Engine System Validation

This is a very hands-on position with a broad range of responsibilities including: supporting issues experienced by other sectors, root cause and debug new engine, transmission or electrified drive unit test setups, understand calibration basics and their effect on hardware, just to name a few.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support as needed the development of new dyno validation tests including scripting support and requests
  • Responsible for engine, transmission and electrified drive unit content & instrumentation is correct and recorded properly
  • Develops / root causes dyno calibrations to support validation testing locally and globally
  • Utilizes analytical tools in engine validation process to root cause engine failures and on test issues.
  • Perform and support root cause analysis and correction of engine, transmission and electrified drive unit system level problems relating to hardware validation
  • Single point contact with design release engineers and component validation engineers that are responsible for all special hardware on responsible engines
  • Support planning, preparation, prioritization and execution of engine, transmission and electrified drive unit dyno durability tests by collaborating with appropriate supporting teams
  • Support through documentation and attendance, Design Review by Test Results (DRBTRs) for responsible test properties.
  • Work with lead system validation engineers to submit PRTs issues on time and with quality.
  • Supervise and support validation hardware during the three key parts of the process (pre-test, On-test and post-test) through the use of (but not limited to) pallet signoff, data review\health checks and end of test reports
  • Create\Update the pallet build book required for responsible engine, transmissions and electrified drive units so that they are accurate and detailed

Additional Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant professional experience (not including co-op or internship)
  • Powertrain dynamometer experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience (not including co-op or internship)
  • Self-motivated to work independently
  • Inca and/or Puma experience
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to technical projects and work effectively in a team environment
  • Willing to gain specific training from a variety of people / techniques
  • Ability to learn complex system functions (i.e. micro-Bas, overhead cam, variable valve timing, etc.) quickly
  • Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with diverse teams
  • Knowledge of reliability & durability calculations
  • Calibration and/or development experience preferred but not required
