Job Summary & Job Duties

JOB SUMMARY:
Works closely with the Supply Chain Manager to ensure supply chain operations and key vendors contracts are met. Purpose of this position is to focus on strategic sourcing activities across the supply base, such as capacity constraints, supply chain risk mitigation and cost reduction efforts. Follows structured negotiation processes to conduct supplier negotiations and contracting. Able to manage processes, create efficiencies and controls costs using ERP system and software tools. This position leads individual or group negotiations with suppliers and in new source development as well as continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Develops cost reduction and sourcing strategies in a purchasing environment characterized by single, sole and source directed suppliers.
• Analyze spend data to identify and execute cost-savings, cost-avoidance, and value-analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) opportunities
• Drives site cost savings initiatives
• Document and report savings
• Promote excellence in sourcing processes across the company
• Provide sourcing support and guidance to buyers, R&D, marketing, and facilities staff in preparation of procurement.
• Evaluate and recommend sourcing opportunities to lower costs and reduce risk
• Support recovery activities and prevent supply disruptions of materials caused by business closures, accounting delays, upstream raw material shortages, etc.
• Negotiation of long term agreements with performance clauses, escalation and de-escalation clauses and year over year performance requirements
• Negotiates high quality at best value. Works with Quality organization to systematically select suppliers and alternative sourcing.
• Responsible for performance of suppliers in coordination with the Quality organization.
• Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.
• Recommends cost savings initiatives including make-versus-buy analysis or alternate sourcing.
• Proactively and routinely interacts with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.
• Establishes new supply chain tools, policies, processes, systems and procedures to achieve world-class performance.
• Responsible for flow-down requirements to suppliers at various levels of product maturity; from RFQ to award of new business opportunity.
• Responsible for negotiating agreements, LTAs, firm fixed pricing, blankets and similar.
• Work with key suppliers on Capacity analysis, surge capacity and lead time reduction plans

Minimum Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in technical field preferred; Business Administration or degree in related field will be considered.
• Minimum 5 years of increasingly complex professional experience in materials management or related field, including a minimum of 3 years' experience of effectively selecting and developing suppliers.
• Must have strong negotiation skills.
• Aerospace sourcing (or similar experience), quality programs ad specifications
• Must have experience in a fast paced discrete manufacturing environment and have experience with global sourcing.
• Ability to create and interpret supply agreements, vendor managed inventory programs, export control laws and regulations, MRP plans, cost benefit analyses and other supply chain processes and procedures.
• Demonstrates the ability to lead and positively influence others.
• Demonstrates a professional and positive attitude.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle and feel material, as well as reach with hands and arms.
