General Summary

This position is responsible for providing overall on-site project supervision and
support to construction site.

Job site location is in Laredo, Texas.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  • Have Ownership of the work. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule and is staffed appropriately.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise on-site functions and provide input with scheduling, engineering, and material control in order to make sure project objectives are met.
  • Supervise craft employees and other contractors to ensure productivity, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project are met.
  • Interface with all on-site work teams (including subcontractors) as required, to resolve problems, ensure quality, safety, scheduling and achieving schedules in support of overall project objectives.
  • Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents and standards to ensure project goals are achieved.
  • Understand, comply and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Understand the scope of work. Identify and report to the PM changes (or potential changes) that may have a financial or time impact on the project.
  • Open and close daily project operations including attending and/or leading staff meetings to start the day and making sure that tools and equipment are stored and secured properly at the end of the day.
  • Ensure that equipment gets serviced and/or fueled as needed to support construction activities for the day and the next day with minimal or no construction interruptions.
  • Coordinate radio and/or cellphone communication with foreman, field engineer and subcontractors.
  • Verify third-party security service hours/invoices.
  • Notify of needed materials and/or equipment with sufficient time so the project team can provide procurement support in a timely manner.

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalency. An undergraduate degree in any construction or engineering related field is a plus.

Work Experience
  • A minimum of 8 - 10 years of construction management and/or craft supervision experience in a similar field of construction.
  • Experience in two federal projects each having a construction value of $10-million, or more is a plus.
  • Experience in earthwork and concrete bridge construction is a plus.
  • The individual shall be familiar with the requirements of EM 385-1-1 or willing to be trained and certified.
  • Able to operate heavy equipment such as excavator, dozer, loader, compactor, forklift, skid steer and broom is a plus.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory and planning skills required.
  • Excellent management skills

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. At times will be working around large construction equipment, must be safety conscience.

Base Salary Range:
$90,256.00 - $135,383.00
Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
