Summary Description:
Housed in the Advising Hub at Colorado College, the Student Success Specialist is responsible for promoting student success and retention through a comprehensive advising program that includes helping students explore and refine their educational and personal goals, assisting with their academic planning and course registration, providing academic coaching services, and closely monitoring student progress. Serving as a vital link between students and academic departments, the specialist collaborates with faculty to identify and support struggling students and acts as a liaison to departments and programs. Additionally, the specialist actively contributes to the broader mission of the Advising Hub by participating in departmental committees and initiatives.

Anticipated Salary Range: $55,000 to $57,123 per year

Responsibilities:
  • Guide a caseload of students in defining and pursuing their educational and personal goals through one-on-one advising sessions.
  • Assist students with academic planning, course selection, and registration processes.
  • Provide academic coaching services to students to help students develop effective study skills, time management strategies, and self-advocacy abilities.
  • Monitor student progress and proactively identify and outreach to students who may require additional support or intervention.
  • Process and actively manage time away and leaves of absence for students.
  • Serve as liaison to academic departments, including actively outreaching to faculty and chairs in liaison departments.
  • Actively participate in departmental committees and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Advising Hub’s services and initiatives.





Additional Responsibilities:


Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in advising or a related field; experience with student success and/or advising technology platforms; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with multiple constituencies, including students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni; ability to work effectively as a member of a team and proven ability to develop strong working relationships with people from different backgrounds; strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree, experience in higher education.
