Cornell’s mock trial program invites applications for mockers to serve as student coaches for its mock trial summer camp. Student coaches will report to the Mock Trial Head Coach. They will help guide mock trial activities and will supervise campers during the evenings. The camp will run from July 7 - July 12, 2024, and student coaches will be required to participate in training prior to the start of camp. Student coaches will receive a $900 stipend as well as food and lodging while student coaches are residing on campus for the summer camp.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Guide and teach a range of mock trial activities
• Develop community and chaperone social outings
• Provide support to campers staying overnight in residence halls
• Monitor campers and ensure camper safety
• Instruct campers in daily routines and cleanup tasks
• Follow safety and emergency procedures and guidelines
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications:

• High energy and positive attitude.
• Strong work ethic
• Experience with college mock trial
• Must pass a background check
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to provide one’s own transportation to camp location
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and be proactive with time management
• Encouraging to campers and patient when instructing
• Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable in a team-player role
• Creative and innovative thinker and planner
• Strict adherence to camp and college policies
• Ability to drive 15-passenger vehicles under Cornell's licensing requirements preferred

• A statement of interest (250-500 words) describing your relevant experience and why you would like to be a student coach for the mock trial camp.
