About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Toledo Refinery Process Engineering Manager, the Staff Process Engineer position will play a lead role in providing unbiased technical evaluations of process issues to continuously improve the safety, reliability, and business performance of the refinery operations. This role will have key role in providing input and recommendations into Engineering and Technical Service team priorities, objectives, and strategic direction and will also help train and coach the Unit Process Engineers.

Responsibilities:

• As requested, lead Root Cause Investigations for Process Safety, Availability, Quality and other incidents.
• Develop, maintain and improve feedstock evaluation and import QA processes.
• Support abnormal plant operations, start-up and shutdown.
• Support site Process Modeling standardization and use
• Incorporate learning into operating envelope updates, procedures, monitoring programs, and future improvement projects / asset strategies.
• Network with Cenovus central Downstream Technical Services teams, other Cenovus refinery and manufacturing sites and industry groups/networks to capture best practices.
• Lead/participate in Cenovus CoP (Community of Practice) forums activities and industry technology forums, as needed.
• Ensure new technology options and industry developments are considered as part of strategy and project development.

Qualifications :

• B.S. in Chemical Engineering
• Minimum 12 years' experience in refining, or like process industry including chemical, manufacturing, nuclear.
• Experience in multiple process units and a broad working knowledge of refinery unit operations. Breadth of experience including some commercial, project, turnaround or similar non-tech experience.
• Experience with Catalyst systems and catalyst selection, FCC units, Waste Water Treatment Units
