Location: ROSWELL, GA

Currently, we are seeking a senior scientist with 7+ years of industry experience as a Material Scientist in the nonwovens industry to support Front End Innovation (FEI) projects in the Global Nonwovens Sector in Roswell, Georgia. Role specifically will be responsible for executing against our raw materials strategy accountable for innovating against our current treatment programs.

Scientists at Kimberly-Clark work as a member of a Research & Engineering (R&E) team to develop and implement new product, process, material or technology concepts. The Scientist for this role will provide guidance and leadership in development, commercialization, optimization, and problem solving for various treatments, pigments, adhesive, and ink materials in support of our consumer and B2B business teams. Candidates should have experience across multiple technologies or industries with a broad understanding of the various raw materials used to produce nonwovens and will have a demonstrated ability to effectively interface with a broad range of team members, customers, and suppliers. The incumbent reports to the Emerging Technology Team Senior Managers and receives direction in the form of specific project objectives.

Responsibilities:

Lead and/or support product, material or process projects with a financial scope up to $10 million from conception through commercialization, particularly in the area of raw material treatments. Lead development of new treatments materials and processes to enable future product evolution. Flexibility to provide global support for existing nonwoven materials and processes. Plan and carry out project responsibilities with limited assistance and direction. Effectively communicate and document project plans and results to key customers. Provide functional guidance and leadership to team members in the initiation, design, development, and optimization of Nonwoven materials to meet unit objectives. Provide protection to technologies, processes, materials, and products through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets. Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized as an effective implementer of research principles, scientific method, and project management. Seek, recognize, define, and solve problems to achieve unit objectives. Identify complex technical issues to determine root cause, develop and recommend solutions. Deliver on key material and process development, commercialization, and customer programs, globally.


Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:

Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's or advanced degree in a related major scientific or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. Requires 7+ years of experience in a variety of technical and operational assignments in a professional R&D or engineering capacity. A demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete projects within required timeframes. Knowledge and background in additives and treatments in the Nonwovens field. A demonstrated ability to translate that knowledge into execution of process or product related initiatives. Ability to successfully manage multiple, and at times conflicting, timelines while delivering objectives. Strong communication skills applicable for technical and business settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical experience in a Manufacturing assignment responsible for implementation of raw materials, polymers, pigments, additives and treatments. An advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry. Good understanding of nonwoven products such as Spunbond, Meltblown, Film and associated lamination and treatment processes. Experience and expertise with Kimberly-Clark products, procedures, and processes.
