Meet the team:
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be joining the Manufacturing Equipment Engineering group providing technical support to projects, functions, and strategic objectives, concentrating on the development of new products, processes, and equipment/systems. The engineer will carry out hands-on investigations and troubleshooting of manufacturing issues, collect data to document improvements in product quality and increase productivity or cost reductions.
Where you come in:
- Contributes to the development of scalable processes, product assembly equipment, system architecture, robotics concepts, and tooling with internal and external development teams.
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain production-level standalone fixtures, and semi-automated or automated equipment to improve product quality and increase productivity or reduce costs. Requires design and hands-on experience with high-volume automation assembly machines.
- Develop test plans, protocols, and reports to ensure designs meet product and part specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable standards for new equipment and processes including IQ/OQ/PQ protocols
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams per the project scope including qualifications of components and products. Duties include providing technical guidance, communicating design and manufacturing intent, validation activities, as well as some project management level tasks.
- Collaborates with R&D to integrate manufacturing principles (DFM/DFA) for new products and processes. And support vendor controls engineers with sustaining and new automation equipment changes.
- Plan, design, develop, and execute production cost and/or quality improvement projects including all necessary documentation.
What makes you successful:
- Understanding of Manufacturing Statistical methods, such as process capability and Design of Experiments.
- Experience with applying statistical tools used to assist in development and troubleshooting of products and processes.
- Analyze field and/or manufacturing failures of mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and instruments, and provide corrective and preventative solutions and actions.
- Experience in working with PLC, HMI, robotics, and vision systems.
- Project Management leadership in areas focusing on design changes, process improvements, outsourcing, material cost reduction, and other plant efficiency efforts.
- At this level a graduate degree may be desirable with 3 years of related experience
Travel Required:Experience and Education- Typically requires a Bachelors degree and a minimum of 5-8 years of related experience
