Meet the team:

The Firmware team is responsible for designing and implementation of wearable and handheld receiver firmware at Dexcom. This includes from early research to production platform. The Sr Manager of Firmware Engineering is at the fore front of setting the vision and mission of what the team does, trusted to lead a highly skilled technical team that develops and deploys lifesaving medical platforms. Additionally, it's expected that Sr Manager of firmware engineering will mentor engineers and provide technical leadership throughout the development cycle. The FW team is embarking on transformational improvements in deploying best in class agile methodologies, which the Sr Manager of firmware engineering will lead working closely with Algo Engineering, V&V test team, and SW development teams.

Where you come in:

  • You will lead and manage a highly technical Firmware team including developers, SME's, and system integrators.
  • You will bring expertise in managing a complex technology that will deliver on the highest performing wearable devices.
  • You will be responsible for the end-to-end design, from concept to verification, leading full life cycle from concept to launch of the firmware architecture that goes in Dexcom products.
  • You will work closely with PMO, Marketing, Electrical Engineering, Algo Engineering, Operations and Quality to manage new and existing designs.
  • You will propose and lead technology exploration initiatives working closely with your teams, including proof of concepts.
  • You will be called on to support other departments to resolve product complaints or when expert advice is needed.
  • You will be expected to be collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment with shared responsibility and flexibility.
  • You will oversee delivery of projects across the product and development teams while supporting a unified culture, vision and strategy for overall product development, learning and innovation.
  • You will ensure delivery of technology and product development cycles on-time, on budget and with high quality results. You will implement product development process improvements and efficiencies.
  • You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, regulation and security in medical device technology space.
  • You will coordinate and communicate with other senior leaders on product roadmap, feature sets, partnership opportunities, key performance indicators, financial results and other management priorities.
  • You will successfully transfer New Product Development programs into high volume electronics production at contract manufacturers.

What makes you successful:
  • You bring a breath of experience in high-reliability firmware design, including agile development values & principals.
  • You bring experience including the full firmware development life cycle which includes requirements, design, coding, testing and integration of low power systems.
  • You are recognized as a thought leader in your field having launched many consumer or medical products. You will have previous hands-on embedded systems experience as a technical lead for fast-paced complex product development where power management, signal processing, BLE/Wifi connectivity, memory allocation, and complex algorithms are key product design elements.
  • You will have previous experience at bare metal C programming for embedded ARM microcontrollers; including use of Make and GCC cross compilers.
  • You have previously transformed SW/FW organizations to implement CI/CD pipeline frameworks, scrum mastership, branching strategies, and utilization of latest developmental tools.
  • You have effectively communicated technical topics with a wide range of audiences, including leadership and advanced technology teams. You are highly collaborative and have a desire to reach across the organization to understand stakeholder needs and how to meet them.
  • You have designed organizations and have a track record of recruiting exceptional talent and building high performing teams and proven abilities to manage, mentor, and motivate employees. You can work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment including managing multiple projects.

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline with 13+ years of industry experience.
  • 5-8 years of previous people management experience.

Remote Workplace: Your location will be a home office; you are not required to live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km). If you reside within commuting distance of a Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km) a hybrid working environment may be available. Ask about our Flex workplace option.
