The Sr. Gauge Technician is on afternoon shift, 11:30 am to 8:00 pm.

The Gauge Technician will serve as the quality lead for all production personnel regarding the upkeep, troubleshooting, maintenance, reliability, and training for all in-line and spare autogauges, equators, and eddy current gauges.
Additionally, the gauge technician will serve as a back up to the quality technicians for vacation and leave coverage as needed across all three shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Online troubleshooting of autogauges, equators, and eddy current machines with operators.
  • Recommend updates and additions to troubleshooting guides for autogauges, equators, and eddy current machines.
  • Performs offline repair of autogauges.
  • Assist maintenance with swap out of autogauge heads.
  • Assist Senior Master Technicians with line changeovers.
  • Ensure spare autogauges are clean, functioning and protected prior to returning to service.
  • Order and maintain all critical spares inventory for autogauges, equators, and eddy current machines.
  • Train operators on proper cleaning, mastering, verification, and operation of the autogauges, equators, and eddy currents.
  • Read and understand technical procedures, standards and engineering drawings, reports, and documentation.
  • Track gauge activities on a computerized asset management system including equipment records, event history, and out of tolerance conditions.
  • Maintain all controlled document files and records for autogauges, equators, and eddy currents in a timely and accurate manner.

Technical / Functional Skills:
  • Must have good English written and verbal communication skills
  • Good arithmetic skills are required
  • Mechanical aptitude desired
  • Working knowledge of measurement instruments: i.e., calipers, OD micrometers, ID micrometers, etc.
  • Computer literacy and general proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to read and understand technical procedures, documentation, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to train and communicate written and verbal instructions and concepts.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience as a CNC operator or 1 year of experience as a Quality Technician.

Preferred Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience as a CNC operator or 2+ years of experience as a Quality Technician.
  • Experience training shop floor associates.

Physical Demands & Frequency Requirements:
  • Continuous standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, reaching and manual manipulation of parts.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Hearing at a conversational level.
  • Required to wear protective safety glasses, hearing protection where required and safety shoes where required.
