The Sr. Director of the Cell Therapy Project Management Office (PMO) is a member of the Cell Therapy Operations Leadership Team and will support the VP, Cell Therapy Operations in all aspects of functional oversight including, but not limited to, leading global transformation programs on-time and on-budget, and in adherence with quality standards, and strategic business planning ensuring requirements are effectively translated to business solutions.

This role will also facilitate planning and meeting of business priorities, often handle senior stakeholders across Global Operations and across SET areas, and will ensure transformation programs transition to business-as-usual services. The incumbent will be accountable for the deployment of the Biologics strategy to the Site and functions and represent Cell Therapy Operations in various enterprise and Global Operations initiatives.

What you will do:

  • Lead strategic transformation, strategic planning, budget, and business planning cycle for function, Defines project resources, performance reviews, and post-implementation evaluations, and reviews high-level deliverables across business areas.
  • Ensure alignment and timely engagement with other project planning functions across the enterprise
  • Provide overall direction, leadership, and decision-making framework to program/project teams.
  • Direct accountability for governance forums, ensuring they meet the needs and expectations of the Cell Therapy LT
  • Establish and maintains relationships with key senior/executive stakeholders within AZ to ensure understanding and commitment to project objectives, and development and refinement of project deliverables.
  • Handle the strategic aspects of large projects. Prepares mitigation plans and reports risk issues.
  • Own business operations tools for cross-functional alignment, including but not limited to hosting alignment forums, developing and sharing prioritization and business risk analysis tools
  • Along with other leadership team members, champion Lean and digital efficiency
  • Handle interdependencies between programs and ensures successful delivery and coordination of workstreams.
  • Oversee the development of strategic risk analysis and subsequent control plans for programs and actively uses these to assess the effect of changes in terms of risks, costs, timescales, and resources; involves other organizations/stakeholders when necessary.
  • Ensure engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures take place for all program activities.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of communication strategies for different programs.
  • Drives successful implementation of cross-site projects and initiatives. Responsible for direct team budget and resource allocation. Ensure Leadership team functions have resources (e.g. plans, tools) to adequately enable budget management
  • Handle Senior leadership expectations in line with project requirements.
  • Ensure streamlined transition into business areas and ensures controlled hand-overs to users and BAU processes.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an appropriate field or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Supply Chain or Operations.
  • Leadership skills, including solving problems and developing multiple options/recommendations.
  • Shown leadership ability to promote, motivate, and empower others to accomplish individual, team, and organizational objectives.
  • Showed ability to work cross-functionally with multiple customers and on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to influence strategically and persuade tactfully, to obtain desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive, organizational relationships within a complex matrix environment.
  • Conceptual, analytical, and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to act independently, decisively & handle complex processes and stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Line Management experience working in a global environment.
  • Advanced degree in a scientific field.
  • Expert reputation within the business and industry.
  • Experience working in a global organization with a complex/
  • geographical context.
  • Supply chain management experience i.e. experience from working in a supply chain function at tactical and strategical level.
