Position Pay Range:

This range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to geographical location and experience.
$122,216.00-$195,547.00

Senior Counsel

The Senior Counsel will support the Associate General Counsel with providing advice and legal support to CSG's Payments business unit (CSG Forte Payments, Inc.).

Essential Job Functions:

  • The primary responsibilities for this position include working with and supporting internal clients to structure, draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including but not limited to customer, partner, and vendor agreements for the payment solutions business unit.
  • Providing general legal advice to CSG internal clients on a variety of regulatory and client-support matters.
  • Provide general legal advice and support to CSG's payments business on day-to-day matters.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and outside counsel to support regulatory compliance, litigation, privacy, and HR matters as needed.
  • Assist the Associate General Counsel in building a program of scalable and effective processes for collaboration between legal team and business teams.
  • The position will also support certain functional and inter-departmental legal matters, as assigned by the Associate General Counsel.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 5+ years of general corporate and commercial transactions legal experience at a law firm or in-house legal department in a relevant sector including US payments, financial services, Software as a Service (SaaS) or Platform as a Service (PaaS) providers.
  • Prior experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating technology-related agreements for clients in a relevant sector, including customer, partner, and vendor.
  • Prior experience advising business clients on relevant regulatory compliance.
  • This job requires domestic and/or international travel up to 10%.

Preferred Skills:
  • Prior experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of payments-related agreements.
  • Prior experience advising business clients on relevant US payments law and regulatory issues, including Nacha rules, card brand rules with exposure to FCRA, GLBA and money transmission laws preferable.
  • Prior experience advising business clients on international payments regulatory matters and drafting, negotiating, and reviewing international payments customer and partner agreements.
  • Prior experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating data protection and privacy-related agreements, including business associate agreements and data processing agreements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills and ability to work both in teams and independently.
  • Desire and ability to work in a collaborative environment with diverse teams from all areas of CSG, including the payments business, other business units, product teams, security, compliance, privacy, and fellow legal team members.
  • Desire and ability to work in an environment that emphasizes collaboration and team performance.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously under time pressure and consistently meet deadlines with high quality work product.
  • Ability to develop and implement creative solutions.
  • Ability to use professional concepts and apply company policies and procedures to resolve issues.
  • Ability to use a personal computer. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language in a business environment.

Education:
  • J.D. from accredited law school.
  • Licensed / qualified to practice law in the United States.
