Valid has a great opportunity for a Sourcing Specialist in our Bolingbrook location. This is NOT a remote position.

What will you do?

  • Gather market intelligence, raw material trends and other market data.
  • Complete spend analysis to support category strategies.
  • Provide feedback on preparation of Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP) and Requests for Quotations (RFQ).
  • Assist with supplier onboarding process.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for internal risk management tool.
  • Identify market leaders as alternative suppliers to promote competition.
  • Analyze market trends and constraints.
  • Participate in the development of supplier scorecards in order to help improve overall key supplier performance.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Analyzes and evaluates product usage categories for savings, comparing contracted distributor pricing and manufacturing direct pricing. Calculates and documents savings on items as appropriate. Identifies new opportunities for items on which to seek negotiated pricing.
  • Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
What are we looking for?
  • 1-2 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and successful application of purchasing procedures in a fast paced and high demand environment.
  • Ability to manage and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting daily functional requirements.
  • Proven negotiation and problem solving skills and lean manufacturing tools
  • Knowledge of and experience with ISO 9000 based quality systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with and lead project teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to utilize Excel data analysis tools
  • Flexible schedule; periodic extended overtime
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills reflecting the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen prior to employment
