As a Software Engineer for our Media Product & Engineering team, you will be working on Content Lab, a CMS that allows editors to create and manage the content for all of our media sites. This is a sophisticated, single page application used by hundreds of users which allows for real-time collaboration between editors.

You'll Report To: Sr. Manager, Engineering

A typical day as a Software Engineer might include:

  • Within your first 30 days, you will learn the Editorial process and understand how we use Content Lab. This knowledge will help you understand the most used features in Composer and give you the opportunity to dig in the new features and improve existing modules.
  • 80% of your work will be done in Composer, a tool that is responsible for the creation of all of the content for more than 60 sites.
  • 20% of the time you will assist in building out SEO tools, Dashboards, and integrations with Social Media that will enhance the current feature rich functionalities of Content Lab.
We are looking for someone with 2 plus years of experience working as a frontend developer using React/Vue.js, Webpack, jQuery, LESS/SASS technologies. Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. You will work with the UI/UX designer and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

What You Have:
  • 2+ years of frontend professional working experience
  • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
  • Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
  • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery since 80% of the job involves working with this framework.
    • Note: Every front-end developer is expected to have a proficient knowledge of JavaScript, while most front-end developers should know jQuery.
  • Good understanding of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as ReactJS, VueJS, etc.
Nice To Have:
  • Any knowledge of Node.js and frameworks (Express, Restify, Next.js) associated with it.
  • Any knowledge of Python and Django framework is a huge plus.
  • Knowledge with embedding with 3rd party platforms like Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc
  • Knowledge of using SEO tools like, Google Analytics, Semrush, Clearscope.
