The Center for Community Health and Health Equity (CCHHE) at Brigham and Women's Hospital serves as the coordinating department for community health programs and acts as a liaison for community-based organizations and the hospital. The mission of the CCHHE is to advance systems of care and community health strategies to eliminate health inequities and elevate the health status of the communities served by BWH. The CCHHE collaborates with hospital departments, including clinical and research areas, and works in partnership with external organizations and community-based groups in addressing the social determinants of individual and community health. Stronger Generations is the hospital's initiative to support expectant and parenting families across our priority neighborhoods, and includes an array of both clinical and community-based programs promoting maternal and child health equity and social opportunity across the life course.

The Program Manager supports the Program Director in the development, implementation, clinical integration, and strategic growth of the initiatives maternal and child health equity programs. Their primary responsibilities are to support and spearhead the development of program priorities and to facilitate the implementation of programs through direct service programming, community partnerships, clinical collaborations, health communications, and evaluation strategies. The Program Manager position requires demonstrated leadership in program development, implementation and evaluation activities, administrative management skills, an expertise relevant to maternal and child health equity promotion, and the ability to collaborate with and support staff in ways that contribute to the strategic advancement of the initiative. In addition, the position requires the ability to work across multiple programs, have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, and possess strong organizational, written and verbal proficiencies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Initiative-wide Program Management

  • Manage the Young Parent Ambassador Program (including program development, delivery, evaluation strategies, and special events)
  • Oversee young parent programming including the young parent community group, the annual STEPS young parent event, and Proud2Parent community partnerships and grant agreements.
  • Manage the activities and actions of the Stronger Generations Council
  • Provide ongoing certified lactation support for Stronger Generations clients across the initiative, including breastfeeding counseling and group facilitation for in-person and virtual postpartum support groups, as well as home-based lactation support services
  • Assist with initiative-wide perinatal resource distribution
  • Provide initiative-wide communications support for programmatic outreach, recruitment, and community engagement activities.
  • Other duties as assigned

Initiative-wide Evaluation Management

  • Support the Program Director and CCHHE Evaluation manager in developing initiative-wide evaluation strategies and measurement tools, as well as data analysis priorities, processes, and translation.
  • Manage special projects related to initiative-wide quality improvement
  • Assist in initiative-wide redcap survey development and analysis
  • Design initiative-wide qualitative and quantitative data visualization for dissemination efforts
  • Work with the Program Director to develop and disseminate quarterly newsletters and the Annual Stronger Generations Initiative Impact Report

Initiative Development and Strategic Growth

  • Collaborate with the Program Director to develop programmatic priority areas, goals, objectives, and innovative program development frameworks for strategic initiative advancement.
  • Identify and integrate best practices in maternal and child health equity innovation into initiative activities
  • Support the Program Director to improve and promote initiative-wide clinical-community partnerships aligned with the Mass General Brigham health equity strategy
  • Provide leadership for advocacy and education efforts related to reproductive justice and maternal and child health equity
  • Identify and develop partnership opportunities with community organizations, health centers and other institutions that will enhance wraparound services for families in our priority neighborhoods
  • Work with the Program Director to develop and manage an initiative-wide communications strategy including the supervision of health communications staffing support, and oversight of team-generated web-based content, social media channels, and collateral material in English and Spanish.

Initiative-wide Administration Management
  • Support the Program Director with budget management including the development of program budgets, the preparation of reports and other documents related to program spending and performance, and development efforts to identify and obtain additional support through internal and external funding opportunities.
  • Supervision of Proud2Parent program staff, the Stronger Generations Program Coordinator, and initiative internships as appropriate.
  • Close collaboration with BWH departments to identify and pursue initiative-wide visibility opportunities including the development office, strategic communications, and public relations.
  • Close communication with CCHHE programs and active contribution to team and departmental efforts to advance maternal and child health equity within BWH.
  • Represent programming at network meetings, coalitions, conferences, and in publications that increase the visibility of our programs and deepen the knowledge base for our work.


Qualifications
  • Masters of Public Health, Social Work or related degree required with specific concentration in Maternal and Child Health or a related field.
  • Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) Certificate preferred
  • 3-5 years experience working with perinatal health, women's health, or family/community health programs.
  • Knowledge of the social determinants of health, and experience working to implement public health solutions to upstream challenges.
  • English/Spanish bilingual preferred

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Demonstrated experience in, maternal and child health programming, community-based public health programming, and/or addressing health inequities through targeted SDOH interventions and health systems improvement.
  • Confidence in bridging the hospital and community settings, as well as demonstrated success in facilitating collaborations with diverse, multi-cultural populations
  • Ability to be self-directed, demonstrate initiative, and to independently lead projects and staff, as well as work as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and agendas;
  • High standards of performance, quality, credibility and integrity
  • Knowledge of systems improvement, program development and community-based resources
  • Demonstrated commitment to social, racial and gender justice issues
  • Ability to work with Microsoft office products, data collection software and social media platforms
  • Willingness to deliver direct services programming outside of business hours (15% of the time)
