GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Senior Systems Analyst position will provide a critical IS function, assisting with management and support of IS systems used at the Mass General Ambulatory Care facility in Waltham. The person in this position will report to the Mass General Waltham/North Shore IS Manager and will work closely with MGH technical resources to assist with the oversight of systems, technical projects and end-user support. The Senior Systems Analyst serves as a liaison between clinical services, technical staff, software and equipment vendors, and operations staff.

Work location is the Mass General Waltham. 52 Second Ave, Waltham, MA

The role includes:

  • Implementation, management and support of information systems for Mass General Waltham.
  • Function as project lead or onsite technical resource for site specific projects owned by MGB\MGH technical teams and MGH Waltham Building Services.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of technology related to patient care.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with MGH\MGPO IS teams, Biomedical engineering, and vendors to design, implement, manage and maintain technical systems used in MGH Waltham operatingreatment rooms that support surgical, endoscopic and imaging procedures. This includes back-end system administration, workflow mapping, application management and end user support.


  • Provide regular system maintenance including support of applications, desktops, servers, tablets and mobile devices.


  • Manage multiple issues and tasks at once and provide timely problem escalation to information systems management and senior leadership as needed


  • Work with vendors and Mass General Brigham Information Systems to troubleshoot telecom, network and Wi-fi problems for MGH Waltham.


  • Provide technical assistance to building services department to maintain building automation and environmental monitoring systems.


  • Participate in MGH\MGPO department level projects to support changes for interfaces used by scheduling, billing and clinical systems.


  • Work closely with clinical business owners to act as project lead or technical resource for site-based projects.


  • Develop, maintain and execute test and validation plans associated with hardware or application upgrades


  • As part of a rotation with IS team resources, provide backup coverage of MGH ambulatory care sites including off hours, on-call support


  • Function both as an individual contributor and team player within MGH\MGPO IS and the hospital community at large. Consistently reviewing MGH/MGPO technology and procedures and making recommendations to improve the process.


  • Maintain documentation, software license and service contracts.


  • Assist with the evaluation, purchase and/or installation of computer equipment/software/hardware.


  • Stay abreast of current technology, software and trends.


  • Support clinical practice through the ongoing development of IS methods and processes that enhance the ability to efficiently deliver direct patient care.


  • Participate in special projects, assignments and committee participation as requested.


  • Assist technical and administrative staff with training as needed


  • Responsible to perform any and all other assigned duties as requested.

  • SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with industry standards and hospital information systems.
  • Strong technical and general IS skills, including hardware, software, personal computers and networking.
  • Understands Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architectures.

  • Proficiency in office automation systems i.e., Windows OS, MS Office, etc.

  • SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Subject to irregular hours.
  • Lifting computers and electronic equipment.


  • WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Able to work in a dynamic and fast paced health care environment that has frequent deadlines and unanticipated scope changes. Physical work environment includes standard office as well as clinical areas such as patient treatment\exam rooms. Local travel between MGH Waltham and Mass General North Shore in Danvers. Occasional work in loud data\server rooms.

    Qualifications
    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7-10 years progressive hardware and software experience in the IT field
  • 5-7 years current experience in the healthcare setting preferred
  • Experience managing small\medium sized projects
  • Knowledge of healthcare technical and operational workflows
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
