Overview

This position is onsite at the Corporate Headquarters located in Kenosha, WI.

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for providing system administration services for the global environment of Snap-on Incorporated. The role involves managing virtualization software and operating server systems on virtual platforms in a secure network environment. The Administrator is also responsible for ensuring the servers are secure and performing at an optimal level. The ideal candidate should have experience in installing, monitoring, and optimizing hardware, server software, and peripherals. Additional responsibilities include experience with directory services, creating automation, running system backups, and resolving a wide range of technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Assist other Administrators in implementing hardware and software upgrades and implementations.
  • Administrator for a global VMWare infrastructure.
  • Works with other IT teams and vendors to maintain on-site IT infrastructure, security, and backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Domain Administrator for Corporate Active Directory environment.
  • Tracks issues and change requests within the ticketing system, coordinates resolution and assists in driving issues to closure, provides timely follow-through with customers and peers, and escalates high-severity issues and chronic problems to appropriate management.
  • Develops, maintains, and tests disaster recovery processes for applications and services.
  • Works closely with vendors and IT teams to conduct research, technical evaluations, and proofs of concept on new technologies and applications.
  • Take ownership of projects and work closely with other staff on efforts ranging from site-specific to company-wide scope.
  • Provides the expertise and support for establishing specifications, configurations, and standards for operating systems and software applications.
  • Uses experience and knowledge to provide mentoring, cross-training, and skill development to other members of the team.
  • Provides off-hours and on-call support for urgent issues and scheduled maintenance.
  • Creates and manages system and network configuration documents, operating guides, design diagrams, and other documentation.
  • Helps monitor information systems policies and controls to ensure data accuracy, security, and legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Acts as an escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
  • Manages maintenance of ESXi hosts with regular patching and critical updates as needed.
  • Provides technical assistance for the installation and upgrading of new and existing file/ print servers, application servers, and software.
  • Responds to service requests related to problems with file/print, infrastructure, and application servers.
  • Performs system maintenance and vulnerability remediation in accordance with established SOPs.
  • Is responsible for the creation, setup, and management of Active Directory objects, managing Group Policy objects, and keeping updated per requirements.
  • Performs maintenance/upgrades on systems hardware/software as necessary. This may require working outside normal working hours, such as nights or weekends.
  • Performs system backups and restores utilizing the appropriate backup software and archival maintenance as required.
  • Performs Storage Area Network (SAN) operations, storage capacity management, and configuration of various storage devices.
  • Installs and operates server operating systems software, including Windows Server and other server operating systems as required in a secure network environment.
  • Creates administration scripts and batch files to automate processes or generate reports as requested. Knowledge of PowerShell is a plus.
  • Is proficient/knowledgeable in Windows Servers running as a Domain Controller supporting Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
  • Experience with Forgerock Identity Management software a plus.


Qualifications

  • Several years (8+) of hands-on experience as a systems administrator of large-scale environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Intel architecture, Security and network protocols, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with building scalable computer platforms in cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Experience with Windows administration, virtualization, VDI technologies, Active Directory, Azure, PowerShell, SharePoint, and SQL server administration.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, Information Systems/Technology, Computer Engineering, or relevant areas.
  • Knowledge of different types of attacks, techniques, threat vectors, attack paths, and how to formulate risk-based decision making in assessing vulnerabilities and remediation priorities.
  • Excellent decision-making, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Relevant industry IT certifications are preferred.
