Who are we?

Since 1918, Holman Manufacturing and Distribution (formerly known as Auto Truck Group) takes new trucks and make them into tools. We have expanded into 20 locations and more than 950 employees specializing in the design, manufacture and installation of truck equipment. From custom trucks to entire fleets, our customers include railroad, utilities, and government agencies.

Holman has an outstanding opportunity to join our team as a Senior Manufacturing Process Specialist out of our Huntington, IN location.

Job Description:

  • Create documentation and training tools that define shop standard and best practices across all operational processes.
  • Utilize lean concepts including standardized work, problem solving methodologies, material handling and planning, and kaizen activities.
  • Work closely with Design Engineering, Account Management, Operations, and our Shops.
  • Responsible for performing some of the most complex work in the department as well as administrative support duties.
  • Spend a significant portion of time on the shop floor.
  • Create documentation for shop standards and best practices.
  • Review new designs with Engineering and Manufacturing to strive for standardized universal products
  • Identify and design manufacturing/welding fixtures and templates
  • Define critical to quality elements and implement stops to prevent defects
  • Develop improved ways of manufacturing, packaging, labeling, and shipping parts
  • Develop relationships with third party suppliers to supplement production and drive efficiencies
  • Support daily manufacturing operations.
  • Lead lean initiatives and cost savings.
  • Oversee and participate in problem resolution within our manufacturing processes.
  • Support and interact with the Quality team.
  • Must comply with the company's safety policies and clean initiative standards.

Education and/or Relevant Work Experience:
  • Associate's Degree in Technical Field, such as Engineering Technology, Product Design, or Manufacturing Technology preferred.
  • Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, Lean experience and formal training preferred.
  • Proficiency with Solidworks or other 3D CAD package
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in one of the following fields: Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering.
  • Prior experience with automotive mechanics, welding, sheet metal forming, and painting preferred.
