This Opportunity

A major focus of the Oncology Cell Therapy team in the Cell Therapeutics and Viral Technologies group is to bring expert capabilities in protein and vector engineering to bear in the development of cell therapeutics. We work closely and collaboratively with colleagues who specialize in tumor biology and immunology, T cell biology, gene editing and high-throughput screening technologies as well as cell product manufacturing in an exciting and newly formed Oncology Cell Therapy Unit within AstraZeneca. Our culture is highly collaborative, fast-paced and innovative.

In this role, you will be focused on protein and vector engineering aspects of TCR-T therapy including the design and optimization of TCRs and related molecules as well as the viral and non-viral vectors used to deliver these proteins into therapeutic cells. You will work closely with a diverse set of colleagues in the exciting new Oncology Cell Therapy Unit at AstraZeneca to deliver cutting-edge oncology cell therapies.

Educational Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology or other relevant discipline.

Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of TCR structural biology and structure/function relationships
  • Strong molecular biology skills
  • Experience with viral and non-viral gene delivery systems and their optimization
  • Proven track record of conceiving research projects and carrying out their execution

Additional Desirable Skills
  • Broader immunology knowledge
  • Familiarity with design and optimization of CAR-T therapies
  • Computational protein design/modeling
