Description
SAIC has contingent job opportunities for a Senior Mentor to support the Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) program under the US Navy. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.
This position is contingent upon contract award, expected in 2022.
The Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) Instructor Services Support (ISS) project will provide: Instructor and Training Facilitator Support; Subject Matter Expert Support; Curriculum Support; Program Management Support; and International Program Support across the Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS). All support shall be for: the US Navy and Foreign Military Sales (FMS); COMNAVSEA 21 (PMS 339); Expeditionary Warfare Training Group; Pacific and Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center. The work will be conducted at the following locations: Aegis Training and Readiness Center, Dahlgren VA; CSCS Unit, Dam Neck, VA; CSCS Unit, Great Lakes IL; and Littoral Combat Ship Training Facilities Mayport, FL and San Diego, CA. Training locations may also include shipyards and Fleet Surface Ships. Instructional focus areas include: Advanced Warfare Training (AWT); Self-Assessment and Groom Training (SAGT); Individual Watch-stander Operator Training; Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD); Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD); Ship Self Defense System (SSDS); and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW). The work will all be performed at government sites located at Fleet concentration areas throughout the contingent United States, Hawaii, limited overseas sites and SAIC contractor facilities in King George, VA. There is no opportunity for tele-work or virtual work for this program.
The Senior Mentor:
- Provides mentor-led instructional material guidance to lead trainees to a specific skill creation.
- The Senior Mentor shall cover the specific equipment, systems, or subsystems In regards to structured on the job training (SJOT) with background data and guidelines for using SJOT, provide worksheets that identify procedures or tasks to be performed, provide performance rubric allowing the mentor to appraise work performance, provide the SOJT instructions and guidelines to include feedback and evaluation tips, and provide an item-to-work matrix to document the work assignment and test item/s for each LO recommended for SOJT, with specific subject matter expertise in the Aegis Weapon System, SQQ-89, and SQQ-90.
Qualifications
BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree from accredited institution, plus and fifteen (15) years or more of related experience to include:
- Three (3) years’ experience as an Aegis Cruiser Commanding Officer or Destroyer Squadron Commodore or DDG 1000 Commanding Officer or warfare commander that employed Aegis, Ship Self Defense System, SQQ-89 Sonar Suite, SQQ 90 Sonar Suite, or other applicable weapon or sensor systems on ships in a strike group operations.
- Secret Level Clearance or higher
