The integration of the two companies is still in process. With the stability of an over 50-year history with no layoffs, Hypertherm does not plan to make significant changes to OMAX's operations or management structure. The company's current offices and manufacturing operations in Kent, WA, will remain intact with no consolidations or reductions planned.

Our Kent, WA location at OMAX is currently recruiting a full-time Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and perform the following job duties:

  • Identify, develop, and refine or deploy new manufacturing methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and reduce lead time.
  • Carry out formal and timely manufacturability (DFM/DFT) review on all new products
  • Develop new processes based on new technology requirements
  • Design tooling and custom equipment to support assembly and testing, with the latest solid modeling and abrasive waterjet technology.
  • Lead manufacturing in setting up lines and cells to build new and existing products using modern 'lean' manufacturing practices
  • Represent manufacturing facilities in the ECN process, ensure that the changes are achievable, and coordinate feedback in the approval and implementation loop
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering Manager responsibilities as directed
  • All other duties deemed necessary by the department manager or supervisor


Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum of 8+ year's relevant manufacturing experience
  • Proficient with SolidWorks, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other common office tools
  • Must have the personal traits of a "Change Leader"
  • Ability to work and lead effectively within a team, a team builder who listens and considers input from others
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision as a contributing team member
  • Able to provide technical guidance and mentoring to other team members
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing lean manufacturing concepts
  • Broad knowledge of production machinery, CNC machine centers, tooling, programming, machining processes, assembly tools and processes
  • Able to handle multiple projects at one time
  • Utilize a data-focused approach to problem solving
  • Experience developing and maintaining process documentation with ECN maintenance
  • Strong analytical and good organizational skill
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed and results-oriented
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Application of mistake and error proofing engineering
  • Proficient with CAD software Solid Works (or equivalent), MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and other common office tools. Experience with ERP System a Plus
  • Knowledge of lean philosophies such as single piece flow, kanban, and 5S
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, or other change control processes
  • Hands on experience with electro-mechanical troubleshooting
