We are seeking a Senior Manager of Technical Accounting who will come with a solid foundation in technical accounting, with an emphasis on business combinations. This person will be responsible for analyzing and accounting for complex accounting transactions including business combinations, debt, software development, intangible asset impairment, and stock-based compensation. This person will report to the Director of Accounting and work closely with the reporting and technical accounting teams and assist in technical assessments and close related activities in technical areas, and develop and maintain the Company's accounting policies, including assisting with the implementation of new accounting standards. The candidate should have experience with the requirement of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and will maintain and complete appropriate controls. Responsibilities

  • Review and advise on technical accounting issues for appropriate GAAP treatment, including M&A activity, stock-based compensation, new accounting pronouncements, and other complex accounting matters.
  • Assist the team with financial due diligence and technical accounting for mergers and acquisitions and asset purchases, as needed.
  • Participate in acquisition accounting, including valuations performed for intangible assets and contingent consideration.
  • Update global accounting policies including drafting policies around new accounting pronouncements.
  • Assessment and implementation of new Accounting Standard Updates (ASUs)
  • Prepare accounting memos for new equity grants including assessing grant date, valuation, and recognition methods
  • Assess software development projects for proper treatment under ASC 985 and ASC 350
  • Assess accounting considerations and review journal entries and account reconciliations in areas including equity, goodwill, intangible assets, debt, and other technical areas.
  • Maintain and update internal control documentation for technical accounting matters.
  • Special and ad-hoc projects, as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA required
  • 7+ years related experience. Big 4 and business combination experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and thorough understanding of GAAP and SEC reporting
  • Experience researching and preparing accounting analyses for complex transactions
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication (both written and oral) and collaboration skills required
  • Accounting and finance software experience preferred (NetSuite, Anaplan, Blackline preferred)
  • Must be able to prioritize function effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with many moving pieces

Compensation

Alteryx is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.

This role is eligible for variable compensation including bonus and stock grants.
