Job Description

We are offering a sign-on bonus for this opportunity!

Our Carson, CA laboratory is looking for a Senior Laboratory Analystto join theirOptical team! The Senior Laboratory Analyst works closely with the Optical Laboratory Supervisor and Optical Laboratory Manager in preparation and analysis of environmental and industrial hygiene samplesusing polarized light microscopy (PLM) and phase contrast microscopy (PCM).The Senior Laboratory Analyst always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.
This is a full-time, benefited position at 40 hours per week with the possibility of overtime. The ideal candidate must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm and after hours, including some weekends.

Job Functions

  • Performs analyses on samples of different complexity (routine, moderate complexity and complex) according to SGS' analytical SOPs using instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
  • Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration, and trouble-shoots laboratory instruments / equipment.
  • Develops and validates analytical methods, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other operating, safety and quality documents for method development, transfer, and validation studies.
  • Provides technical training, advice and support to Analysts in data analysis.
  • Leads investigation, and preparation of responses to client inquiries and CARs.
  • Provides technical support to Marketing, Sales, Customer Service and clients regarding testing, reporting or technical inquiries.
  • Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
  • Manages multiple projects as assigned.
  • Maintains Laboratory Notebook.


Qualifications

  • Associate'sdegree in a science-related field, preferably Geology or other physical science and 5 years of relevant experience (Required); Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred
  • 1 year of method development and troubleshooting experience (Required)
  • Candidate should be detail oriented, organized and able to work with a minimum of supervision (Required)
  • Strong verbal and writtencommunication skills (Preferred)
  • Experience with a microscope required:
    • Experience with Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM)
    • Experience with Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM)
  • Experience working with a LIMS application (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of EPA, NIOSH and OSHA methodology (Preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects (Required)
