Job Summary: As a member of the I.T. Operations team, the Senior Systems Administrator assists in analyzing, maintaining, and troubleshooting systems or network issues. Consisting of a combination that may include servers, computers, LANs, WANs, and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together as an enterprise network and computing backbone.

The person in this position will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of computer systems investments. They will need to Interact with Network Support, Software systems engineering, and/or applications development to identify and correct core problems. This individual will also provide an escalation path for other IT staff troubleshooting related issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides advanced technical support, responds to work orders and tickets. Analyzes and solves reported infrastructure and escalated user base issues.
  • Ensure that systems and their applications are at current release levels, patched, securely configured, and in good repair.
  • Make recommendations to modernize and improve datacenter, network, and systems efficiency, performance, and reliability.
  • Act as a resource for Exchange and Office 365 Administration
  • Develops procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse.
  • Develops and coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations. Provides leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and enterprise systems administration.
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Create tickets and document all activities in the ticketing system.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel.
  • Mentor / cross train team members on existing and new technologies
  • Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways to take advantage of new technology.
  • Provide evening and weekend support (off-hours support), as assigned.

Skills Requirements:
  • 5+ years prior industry experience.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related discipline. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.
  • Ability to: Plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures; communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility; perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively.
  • Experience troubleshooting VOIP and Digital phones
  • Experience with monitoring systems desired.
  • Experience with Windows server up to 2019.
  • Experience with VMware, HyperV, AD, DNS, O365, Exchange, Veeam.
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required.

Note: Salary range: $80K - $90K.
