The Ethylene Oxide (EO) plant in Louisiana Operations has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Improvement Engineer who will provide support to the facility in Plaquemine, LA.

The EO plant is critical component of the Dow Industrial Solutions (DIS) business's manufacturing complex on the Plaquemine site. The EO plant provides feedstock to the other DIS facilities on site which produce products such as Isopropanolamines, Alkylalkanolamines, and Polyethylene Glycols which are used in Polyester Fibers, Antifreeze, Surfactants, Gasoline Conditioning, Gas Treating, and Personal Care Products.

DIS is a growth platform for the company. The successful candidate will join an improvement team that is equally focused on implementing near term improvements to improve the plant's reliability and executing investments the will ensure the long term viability of the facility.

About you

The Senior Improvement Engineer serves as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical and organizational skills to drive the plant level continuous improvement program targeted at delivering maximum value from the assets, while continuously improving process safety and production efficiency. Requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.

Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:

  • Possess in-depth process technology and continuous improvement skill sets helping to establish credibility with the operations team.

  • Drive knowledge exchange with technology experts to increase awareness of potential improvement opportunities for the technology.

  • Partner with the experts to develop and implement a Plant Specific Technology Plan that delivers positive year-over-year ROC (return on capital) and non-capital continuous improvement while meeting the plant level EH&S improvement goals.

  • Champion process safety activities and acts as a resource for relevant process safety concerns. Partner with plant operation and maintenance personnel to identify and track performance indicators to be used in identification of technology gaps and continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Support the facility root cause investigation process by serving as a team member or facilitator for incidents related to process technology. Lead and supports plant continuous improvement activities aligned to the PSTP and also supports the capital plan for the facility. Leads continuous improvement activities for the facility and may serve in specific GPM related roles of project manager or manufacturing representative.

  • Champion the "next unplanned event" exercise for the plant and ensures potential solutions are captured in the appropriate prioritization system.

  • Serve as the implementation arm of the technology center.

  • Participate in the on-call program for plant immediate response and advising similar to other day support roles.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking OR Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking. Degrees in Chemical Engineering are preferred.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of engineering, manufacturing or related experience.

  • Prior experience as an Improvement Engineer or as a Manufacturing Representative on capital project.

  • Experience in Ethylene Oxide technology.
