Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

Intuitive Surgicalâ„¢, the world leader in surgical robotics, is seeking a Senior FPGA/Verification engineer to join the da Vinci new product development team. This position will have broad responsibility for developing complex FPGA solutions for communications, video, control processing and other advanced capabilities. This role works directly on products that have real world impact. Candidates must be self-motivated, creative, resourceful, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment, and possess good technical breadth and depth.

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Implement efficient FPGA designs of one or more of the following robotic system components: video signal processing, DMA, high-speed communications, sensors, motor control, and integration of modern embedded computing modules.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Electrical Engineering, Software Development and Systems Analysis to refine systems architecture and implementation.
  • Develop FPGA RTL in System Verilog as a senior team member.
  • Use modern verification methodologies such as UVM to validate RTL designs and contribute to our library of verification solutions.
  • Follow rigorous design control methodology from design specification through design verification.
  • Write detailed design documentation, including specifications and verification protocols.
  • Integrate, debug and support the product after launch.

Qualifications

Skill/Job Requirements:


  • Minimum BSEE, MSEE preferred.
  • System Verilog preferred; Verilog required
  • UVM or OVM verification experiences are highly desirable.
  • Expert in FPGA design or front-end IC design.
  • Understanding static timing analysis and SDC timing constraints
  • Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with at least one of the scripting languages such as Python, Tcl, Perl or Shell
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as GIT or SVN.
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGA design tools (Vivado, Chipscope) and Questa Sim is a plus
  • Hands-on engineering abilities with oscilloscope and logic analyzer is a plus
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Minimum 5+ years of RTL coding and verification experience.
