This role is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the executive communications strategy for key executives at UVA Health. Preferred candidates will have previous experience designing and implementing creative and impactful communications strategy for C-suite executives. They will possess command of a wide range of communications specialty areas including writing and editing, multimedia, and creative design to lead a high-impact communications program. The ideal candidate will be exceptionally skilled at understanding how to capture and effectively reflect distinct executive voices. They will have the desire to establish a foundation of excellence and a proven record of exceeding goals, both qualitatively and quantitatively.

Leads and executes communications strategies for key UVA Health executives. Drives compelling communications that will:

  • Increase visibility and positive engagement with UVA Health team members and other key constituent audiences
  • Effectively capture the voice of key executives
  • Elevate UVA Health executive thought leadership in strategic areas of focus
  • Plan and execute communications calendar
  • Monitor and apply national healthcare trends for communications context
  • Partner with other communications team members for overall communication integration and editorial calendar management

Manage end-to-end communications for several internal and external communications programs, including (but not limited to) recognition programs, video messages, website content, Community Report, Board communications, events, speeches, and thought leadership opportunities that align with UVA Health executive communications strategy.

Responsible for stakeholder management, coordination, consultation, planning, implementation of projects across a broad variety of internal and external audiences (leaders, peers, UVA Health team members, influencers, media, patients, etc.) to support organizational business strategies and to promote and protect the UVA Health brand.

Essential Responsibilities: Serves as primary communications liaison with key executives. Oversees the development and implementation of sophisticated and integrated (internal and external) communications plans for local, regional and national initiatives and / or functional areas including development of communications positioning, messaging, and tactics consistent with the UVA Health brand and business strategies.

Following implementation, monitors the effectiveness of the communications program and materials. Modifies programs and projects as needed to improve results. Creates measurement reports and dashboards. Serves as a collaborator and an integrator with other communications leads from the content, media, internal teams and other stakeholders and teams.

Experience leading executive communications programs with both internal and external audiences. Basic Qualifications: Experience Minimum ten (10) years of experience in PR, Communications, or similar roles. Minimum three (5) years executive communications experience. Education Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, public relations, business administration or related field. Healthcare experience preferred.

Position Compensation Range: $61,443.20 - $98,300.80 Annual

Additional Job Requirements:

Extensive experience working senior executives and confidential, high-risk and / or highly sensitive content. Experience contributing to business goals through strategic communications. Experience managing enterprise-wide communications across large, complex organizations.

Extensive experience with stakeholder management and change management in a large organization.

Experience working across internal and external communications with a demonstrated understanding for how they influence each other.

Demonstrated ability to plan and manage complex projects: ability to work effectively with team members and senior executives under tight deadlines.

Contributes to the development of innovative communications principles, ideas, and practices.

Additional expertise required: Advanced skills in the areas outlined. Extensive experience leading executive communications programs with both internal and external audiences.
