Overview

AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant and Financial Controller at its New York, New York office.

Location: New York, New York

Salary Range: $106,000-$115,000

Responsibilities

Preparation of day-to-day accounting, ensuring financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and procedures including preparation of quarterly reports for AmTrust Group Accounting Bank administration and reconciliation. Monitor, maintain and, if necessary, propose improvement of accounting control environment. Preparation of financial reports for management review. Review and analysis of 3rd party financial statements. As needed, audit of in force transactions including onsite client visits. Accounting and tax analysis of proposed transactions to assess feasibility and financial impact for all parties. Day to day liaison with external auditors and other stakeholders (i.e. banks, etc). Have an understanding /expertise in accounting, tax and regulatory issues. Analysis of current systems for financial reporting and making more robust accounting and reporting systems. Ensure that business proposals reviewed according to GAAP principals and preparation of relevant memorandums. Utilize knowledge of Great Plains and Oracle accounting software. Utilize a high level of accuracy in dealing with documents and attention to details. Work remotely with team members located in US, UK and Luxembourg.

Qualifications

The position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting plus three and a half years of accounting and auditing experience in (re)insurance or a related position. The position requires Three and a half (3.5) years of experience in derivative (ASC 815), investment (ASC 320), Fair value (820), Transfer & Servicing and Insurance (ASC 944) accounting. Experience may be gained concurrently. Foreign degree equivalent accepted. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, or training.
