Position Overview

We seek a 25% FTE lecturer to teach Medieval and Renaissance Studies 2666, "Magic and Witchcraft in the Middle Ages and Renaissance" for the Autumn 2024 term. This is a single-course, single-term appointment with no presumption of renewal.

Performance Objectives

  • Lecture to a class of up to 150 students about the history and literature of magic and witchcraft in the Medieval and Renaissance periods. The course will focus on Europe, but comparative analysis of other regional cultures is welcomed.
  • Supervise a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) if one is appointed.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required:

At minimum, a Masters Degree in a discipline relevant to the course topic.

Prior collegiate teaching experience.

Desired:

Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to the course topic.

Previous experience teaching, or serving as a teaching assistant for, a similar course.

The Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies is an interdisciplinary center in the College of Arts and Sciences dedicated to the study of history, culture, society, technology, and the arts from late Antiquity to the early modern era.
