General Statement of Job

The Salesforce Developer will lead the ongoing development of the Salesforce.com deployment and provide support to the institution through the customization and configuration of the Salesforce platform. The position will manage the Salesforce database and reporting, and provide training and support to users.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages Salesforce security including roles, profiles, sharing rules, workflows and groups.
  • Maintains and customizes Sales Cloud and Service Cloud applications.
  • Builds custom reports, dashboards, and workflows.
  • Handles all basic administrative functions including user account maintenance, reports and dashboards, workflows and other routine tasks.
  • Manages operational requests and reporting including customer analysis and individual views, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Develops training materials and provide training and support to SalesForce.com end users. Assists in training of new users, and grows the Salesforce.com skill set across the college.
  • Works with our institutional management team to establish suitable processes to support administrative, development, and change management activities.
  • Maintains database for integrity and accuracy including cleansing and duplicate record management.
  • Manages all related technical resources and migration of data into Salesforce.
  • Evaluates new releases of Salesforce to determine functionality requirements and provide detailed information on how changes will apply to all affected departments/users.


  • Knowledge

    Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

    • Knowledge of PaaS, citizen and platform development, and PHP App Development.
    • Knowledge of Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud.
    • In-depth knowledge of the out-of-the-box capabilities of SFDC.
    • Strong reporting background.
    • Integration with external systems.
    • Project management skills.
    • Evaluating information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.

    • Understanding of the Salesforce.com platform, with the ability to build custom apps and objects, formula fields, workflows, custom views, and other content of intermediate complexity.
    • Proficiency in Lightning Framework and Customer Communities.


    Technology Skills

    • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.


    Required Work Experience

    • Two years related work experience.


    Preferred Work Experience

    • Experience with Salesforce Higher Ed architecture and related API structure.
    • Experience with JavaScript libraries/frameworks such as ReactJS, NodeJS.
    • Experience in Web Design using HTML and CSS, Bootstrap, LDS.
    • Familiarity with HIPPA, FERPA and GDPR compliance.


    Required Education

    • Bachelor's degree.


    Special Requirements

    Licenses/Certifications; Other

    • Salesforce Certified Developer and Admin.
    • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for travel in the Austin area as required.


    Other Preferred Qualifications

    • Working in a SCRUM or agile environment preferred.
    • Integration experience SOAP, REST, WSDL and using third-party iPaaS tools (Informatica, Boomi, Jitterbit).


    Physical Requirements

    • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
    • Occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds.

    • This is a benefit eligible position funded through January 31, 2022 and is subject to renewal. The College is unable to support candidates who require sponsorship to work in the United States.


    ACC Benefits Overview

    Full-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

    ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
