Essential Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform GEMBA walks to monitor facility and processes for adherence to OSHA guidelines and the elimination of industrial incidents.
• Trains new hires on established safety protocols for various departments
• Maintains and updates training curriculum for new or existing employees
• Ensure all new hire and annual safety training are completed and documented
• Monthly Plant and Driver safety training
• Perform vendor Safety Orientation
• Investigate injuries, incidents, potential hazards and near hits. Identify and document root causes, track though closure corrective actions for all incidents
• Create and conduct Job Safety Analyses and risk assessments with the goal of proactively identifying potential business and employee risks.
• Revise and develop new Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
• Maintain all tasks in the Health & Safety Management System/Riskconnect, and the Environmental Management System
• Manage all workers compensation claims (I didn't know this was a safety duty)
• Maintain company's incident database and ensure monthly safety audit are completed.
• Maintain all other safety related records such as waste records in accordance with all federal, state, local, and company requirements.
• Coordinate outside services such as alarm, fire and safety supplies.
• Ensure all safety binders, including the SDS binder, are kept up to date.
• Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of the job.

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements

• Minimum 2 years safety experience in a manufacturing/transportation environment
• Ability to speak effectively in front of any size group.
• Maintains professional demeanor in dealing with critical/confidential information; restricts discussion/knowledge of activity to a "need to know" basis.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize work
• Good verbal and written communications skills and math aptitude
• Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, phones, prioritize workload & work with minimal supervision
• Must be able to communicate effectively & conduct themselves professionally; excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Intermediate skills in MS Office including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
• Experience with Smart Drive
