Roadway Design Engineer in Training

What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is currently seeking to fill the position of Roadway Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in our Atlanta, GA Office at 2839 Paces Ferry Road SE, Suite 850, Atlanta, Georgia, 30339.

Responsibilities for this position include:

-Assists in the design of a variety of roadway project types including urban streets, rural highways, bridge replacements, sidewalks and trails, complex interchanges, roundabouts and intersection improvements

-Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to help resolve a variety of complex problems

-Assists in the analysis, preparation or modification of technical reports, drawings, plans, specifications and permits for projects

-Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents

-Participates in project site visits with other project team members, as needed

-Demonstrates strong attention to detail

-Able to learn Georgia Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures

-Able to learn standard operations, policies and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industry

-Performs other duties as requested

Education & Experience Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited program

-0 to 4 years of roadway design experience. Prior internship experience is a plus

-EIT Certification in Georgia, or an ability to obtain EIT in Georgia within 6 months of start date, is required

-Experience using MicroStation V8i and Inroads is a plus. OpenRoads experience is a plus

-Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job-related manuals and documents

-Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel

-Strong interpersonal/communication skills

-Ability to work and learn in a fast-paced collaborative team atmosphere with an established group of surveyors, engineers, scientists, and administrative staff
