Responsibilities

This position will work a range of 40-64 hours per pay period.

Performs all aspects of respiratory care to patients of all ages under the direction of a qualified physician/provider to ensure excellent quality care to all customers. This care includes: treatment, management, control & diagnostic evaluation of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system.


Key responsibilities:

  • Administers treatment and medications which promote pulmonary hygiene, improve pulmonary function and respiratory status; including but not limited to:
    • Ventilator/BIPAP/High Flow Nasal Canula management, nebulizer treatments, Stress tests, Chest physiotherapy, drawing arterial blood gases, oxygen therapies, external ventilation support, pulmonary function tests & EKG's
  • Participates in patient's assessments/evaluations; maintenance of airways and ventilation, rescuscitation efforts and other emergency medical treatments
  • Sets up, monitors and maintains invasive and non-invasive ventilatory and oxygenation devices; recognizes and corrects malfunctions or inappropriate settings
  • Educates and instructs patient, patient's family and team members on therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, including pulmonary rehab program
  • Strong patient care and customer service skills: provide high quality care & diagnostic services that are appropriate, efficient and effective; ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of patients, ages and physical conditions
  • Stocks supplies, prepares ventilators/Bi-pap and other equipment for immediate use; maintains neat & orderly work area
  • Practice safe work habits, compliance with safety rules and regulations and adheres to safety policies
  • Other duties as assigned to meet organizational needs

Qualifications


Requirements

Active license to practice Respiratory Care through the Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)


Preferred

RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)
