Under the direction of the staff Registered Nurse, the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) will provide assistance to the on duty Registered Nurse to aid the RN in providing nursing care and managing the ongoing health care of residential and/or day students in assigned program(s).

How You Will Be Making a Difference

  • Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight on a routine basis.
  • Administers medications by mouth during the pm med passes
  • Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to nursing supervisor.
  • Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures.
  • Protects organizations value by keeping patient information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.
  • Enhances wellness department by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in order of importance.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of relevant nursing care
  • Ability to work with population of children in residential treatment
  • Friendly and professional bedside manner
  • Maintains current CPR certification
  • Multi-tasking skills
  • Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills
  • Understands legal implications of patient care

Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma and Certification with accredited training course through the State of New Hampshire and current certification through American Heart Association in Basic Life
  • 1 year of nursing assistant experience. Experience with children and adolescents is a plus.
  • Appropriate license

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to restrain clients in an emergency.
  • Must be able to traverse a wooded campus area without difficulty.

Schedule (Sunday-Wednesday)
  • Sunday: 7:30am-8:30pm
  • Monday: 1pm-9pm
  • Tuesday: 1pm-9pm
  • Wednesday (alternating shifts): 1-9pm Weeks 1 and 3, 12-8pm Weeks 2 and 4
