Accountabilities:
As a Research Scientist III within the Translation Biology group of the In Vitro and In Vivo Pharmacology (IVIVP) team, you will represent IVIVP in cross-functional research teams. Your role will involve formulating experimental strategies, leading and designing non-clinical proof of concept and IND-enabling studies internally/ externally to advance drug development projects for rare diseases with special focus on nephrology and cardiology. You will mentor junior scientists and contribute to building new platforms and bringing in new technologies to expand IVIVP's capability to support Alexion's growing pipeline of rare disease therapies.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Ph.D. & minimum of 5-8 years postdoctoral or industrial experience
- In-depth experience and expertise in kidney or heart biology and disease pathophysiology
- Proficiency in evaluating, developing and implementing pharmacology models for preclinical studies
- Proficiency in developing, implementing and providing trainings on broad range of in vivo/in vitro/ ex vivo assays, imaging modalities and quantitative analysis
- Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills
- Experience collaborating with external partners (CROs/ academic laboratories)
- Experience in training/mentoring
- Strong attention to detail
- Subject matter expert in renal or cardiovascular biology
- Experience with preclinical studies in relevant in vivo models
- Ability to work under limited supervision with a high level of autonomy
- Contribution to scientific publications, external presentations, and participation in professional conferences and working groups
