Research Program Coordinator
We are seeking a Research Program Coordinator who will be responsible for coordinating clinical trials and other research projects in the Department of Mental Health. These projects address the mental and sexual health outcomes of violence and trauma, with an emphasis of Black women and families. The Research Program Coordinator will assist in the day-to-day logistical and operational tasks of the research studies. This may involve, but is not limited to, identifying appropriate patients, screening medical records, consenting study participants, performing data collection and entry, obtaining and processing specimens (e.g., saliva, urine), organizing regulatory paperwork.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains a good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and projects and their reporting requirements.
  • Adheres to all protocol and regulatory requirements to ensure the validity of the clinical research data.
  • Works directly with the principal investigators and other study team members to execute study protocols. Also be involved in the amendment of existing protocols or development of new study protocols.
  • Attend clinics and other community-based settings, screen potential participants and carry out research-related procedures with participants, daily.
  • Provide remote data collection by administration of verbal and computer-assisted questionnaires.
  • Conduct follow-up data collection by administration of verbal and computer-assisted questionnaires.
  • Collects biological samples from participants; Collects, enters, and compiles clinical data from a variety of sources.
  • Monitor, schedule, and execute participants study visits and may be involved in monitoring the study budget.
  • Manage and maintain all participant binders, study binders, and documentation for the study as well as assist the principal investigators in preparing for audits, advertising for the studies, implementing new recruitment strategies, and preparing reports for the IRB as well as handling and documenting IRB correspondence.
  • May attend educational lectures and conferences.
  • Meets regularly with research team to review data accuracy and overall study progress.


Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Working knowledge of RedCap or Qualtrics or willingness to learn.
  • Must have professional attitude, excellent organization and communication skills, mature outlook, be self-motivated.
  • Must be able to independently complete tasks, be detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Must be comfortable collecting saliva, or urine samples from patients.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills including being highly organized and detail oriented.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior research or clinical experience is strongly recommended.

Starting Salary Range: $16.75-$23.00-$29.30 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
Employee group: Full Time
Schedule: Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm with occasional evening and weekend hours

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
